MedTrakRx Receives Champion of Business Award

Kansas City Business Journal Recognizes Pharmacy Benefit Manager for Financial Performance, Innovation and Community Involvement

PRESS RELEASE: MedTrakRx, a pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) and a division of EnvisionRxOptions (a wholly owned subsidiary of Rite Aid), was recently selected by the Kansas City Business Journal as a 2018 Champion of Business award winner. The award recognizes area businesses that excel in financial performance, innovation and community involvement. This is the second time MedTrakRx has been honored with this prestigious award, which they will receive along with other recipients during the 12th annual awards luncheon on May 4 at the Intercontinental Hotel in Kansas City.

“Receiving the Business Journal’s Champions of Business award again is a testament to the hard work of all of the MedTrakRx team,” said Mark Fendler, president of MedTrakRx “We are proud to be recognized once again for our efforts and community commitment.”

MedTrakRx reported significant year-over-year growth and profitability over the past three years and demonstrates innovation through the Company’s unique care model, which optimizes all aspects of the pharmacy care experience, improving plan performance for employers and delivering healthier outcomes for patients. The care model:

  • Carefully monitors the prescription drug pipeline, evaluating new medications and their clinical effectiveness versus other available options.
  • Assesses the economic impact on employers who pay a large portion of the coverage cost.
  • Provides best-in-class specialty pharmacies that are closely integrated with MedTrakRx, working together to manage utilization of costly specialty medications and help patients control complex conditions.
  • Creates specific recommendations on benefit design and condition management that ensures patients get the right medications at the right time and at the best possible price.

Additionally, in response to the opioid crisis, MedTrakRx bolstered its pain management program, CareTrakRx Pain, to help promote the clinically appropriate utilization of prescription opioids. The program focuses on patient safety through communication, education and outreach, as well as interventions that avoid excessive dosing and dangerous drug combinations, with the goal to help individuals manage pain safely before and after the first dose.

While MedTrakRx supports many community efforts, their focus is on promoting health, wellness and education to improve minds and bodies, providing a healthy future for Kansas City. MedTrakRx has made a commitment to support two community organizations. The company is a corporate sponsor for and supports the work study program at Cristo Rey, a secondary college preparatory school serving less fortunate, diverse students. Additionally, for the past six years, MedTrakRx has hosted a ProAm golf tournament to raise money for Folds of Honor, a non-profit organization that provides educational scholarships to families of fallen or wounded soldiers. In 2017, MedTrakRx raised more than $100,000 for Folds of Honor, a record for the event, raising nearly $400,000 since the golf outing’s inception.

“In all that we do at MedTrakRx, we believe in challenging the status quo. We strive to be creative, consultative, nimble and flexible. This unique perspective is how we have grown as a trusted partner to our clients,” Fendler said. “We also believe in providing support that makes Kansas City a better place to live, work and play. All of this together is why I believe we were recognized as a Champion of Business.”
